Daddy Dolls

Today we got our Daddy-dolls in the mail! Before Dave left, he posed in his uniform so I could order a Daddy doll. They came two weeks later. I got a taggie blanket made for Reese and a Daddy doll for Savannah. If you know Savannah, she is obsessed with baby dolls. Opening a daddy doll of her own made her day! So far they are inseparable. (Here baby doll Maya has some competition!) Reese is loving her Bumbo these days. She is getting stronger to sit up in it. At school, she has been sitting in the Bumbo a lot. I like to sit her up at the table when Savannah and I are eating dinner.

During our bedtime routine, we read books to our daddy doll. Savannah fell asleep holding him. It was too cute! I wanted to snap a picture, but didn't want to wake her up.

Deployment #4

Dave left in early February for an extended business trip to Afghanistan. The girls and I saw him off. It's our 4th deployment since we've been in Hawaii, and it certainly does not get any easier for any of us.

Friday, October 29, 2010. 5 days overdue, Dave and I went to a Doctor's appointment that morning and there was nothing remarkable to report, my body was showing no signs of an impending birth. With my Dr.'s advice, we decided to induce on Sunday. So, I went about my day and finished my last day of work before starting my Maternity Leave. That night, Dave had his Halloween work party. We got Savannah all dressed in her costume and Dave painted me up like a Pumpkin. (I told him that if I was still pregnant by Halloween he could paint me). He went out an bought the paint and did a great job! So, off to this Halloween party we went! Dave, Fufa, and Pumpkin Sam. Little did we know that we would be pulling an 'all-nighter!" Dave's masterpiece!

At the party. Savannah was having a great time with all the activities to do. We didn't stay that long. I started having contractions about an hour into the party.

Here we are embracing our October 31st induction date for the new baby! It never crossed my mind that I would go into labor on my own! (When you are almost a week late, you begin to feel that pregnany is a permanent condition!) In fact, while I was having contractions at this party, I didn't even think I was in labor!

We left the party when I couldn't be 'social' anymore. I just wanted to go home and figure out what was going on and get this pumpkin off me! I felt like my skin was crawling!

It turns out I was in labor! We left the party at 6:30pm and were checked in to the hospital by 8:30pm. Dave said "your contractions are 3 -4 minutes apart, we are going to the hospital!"

Reese came at 5:42am the next morning on October 30th. I guess she was finally ready 6 days after my due date. (Maybe she had an opinion about being a Halloween baby!)

Is this a very convincing 2 thumbs up? I can't remember the last all-nighter that Dave and I experienced. It certainly wasn't like this!

A few more pictures from my Mom's camera. My Aunt Barbie and her flew in the day that Reese was born. Dave picked them up at the airport and drove them directly to the hospital. They stayed for 3 weeks to help me out because Dave had to go to training in Yuma, AZ 10 days after Reese was born.

Tripler Amy Medical Center. Both Savannah and Reese were born here. We had such a great experience and loved our Doctor. We are so thankful that everything went smoothly and Reese is a healthy, beautiful baby girl!
